Buckingham Palace Garden Party 19th May 2026
/For 105 years, charity The Not Forgotten has been supporting veterans and service-people suffering from injury and illness by providing social, respite and challenge opportunities and a unique series of prestige royal events. Each spring the Monarchy hosts three garden parties at Buckingham Palace and one in Holyrood, Scotland. This year HM The King graciously extended two extra parties, with one dedicated to The King’s Trust on 14th May and the second dedicated to The Not Forgotten on 19th May. All branches of HM Forces and veterans were represented at The Not Forgotten function which was personally hosted by their Royal Patron, The Princess Royal, HRH Princess Anne, and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence. The Princess Royal spent a few hours meeting and mingling with many of the guests.
The Royal Yorkshire Regiment and several branches of the Green Howards Association sent a combined party of over 30 veterans and family members to participate. By extension The Queen’s York Rangers, as their allied Canadian unit, was also invited and Lt Col Morrissey MBE CD represented the Rangers. The Band of the Royal Marines entertained the 2,000 guests throughout the afternoon as they enjoyed tea and sandwiches followed by ice cream and cake. A large number of wounded and disabled - both serving and veteran - were included in the day’s gathering. A contingent of Beefeaters were brought from the Tower of London and secured a parade ground on the lawns. At the end of the afternoon Beating Retreat was performed for the entertainment of all followed by the Royal Salute to conclude the event.
Some photos from the event show HRH Princess Anne mingling with guests, a group of Green Howards veterans assembling outside Buckingham Palace, the leadership of the Green Howards Association London Branch with Colonel Liam, and a Beefeater.
